This Privacy Policy explains how MET ("MET", "we", "us") handles information when you use the MET mobile app (the "App"). MET is built to keep what you save on your device, and we designed it to collect as little as possible.
The friends you add to MET, including their names, photos, birth years, nationalities, where they live, where you met, notes and contact details (phone number, email, WhatsApp, Instagram, Snapchat and Facebook), are stored only on your device, using standard iOS and Android app storage. We do not operate a server that stores this information, and we do not have access to it.
Because you may save information about other people, please only add details your friends would be comfortable with you keeping.
If you choose to add a photo of a friend, the App asks for access to your camera or photo library. Only the photo you pick is copied into the App. We never see your photos or your photo library.
The map is loaded from OpenStreetMap's tile servers, and searching for a place, or tapping the map to choose one, uses OpenStreetMap's Nominatim service. To serve these requests, OpenStreetMap receives your IP address, the map areas you view, and the place names you search for or the points you tap. No other information about you or your friends is sent. See the OpenStreetMap Foundation Privacy Policy.
If you turn on sync, MET copies your friends and their photos to your own cloud storage so they appear on your other devices:
This data goes to your account, not to us, and we cannot access it. You can turn sync off at any time in the App's settings. Apple's and Google's privacy policies apply to data stored with them.
A backup is a file containing your friends and their photos. It is created on your device and only goes where you choose to save or send it.
MET Premium is sold as a weekly subscription or a one-time lifetime purchase. Payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play), and we never see your payment details. We use RevenueCat to check whether you have Premium. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID, your purchase history for MET, and basic device information such as platform and app version. See RevenueCat's privacy policy.
You can delete a friend at any time in the App. Uninstalling MET removes everything it stored on your device. If you used sync, turning it off stops further syncing, and you can remove MET's data from iCloud in your device's iCloud storage settings, or from Google Drive under Manage apps in Drive's settings.
MET is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
